But the community rose up in arms because the building was built in 1938 as a cinema.
i guess English people are getting tired of Africans buying up their places.
You will remember another Nigerian just bought Gatwick airport.http://camberwellcommunitycinema.webs.com/ a href="http://camberwellcommunitycinema.webs.com/">http://camberwellcommunitycinema.webs.com/>

Dear Roberta,

Until you posted this blog I was not sure that the purchasers of the bingo hall were from Nigeria, and I had no idea that the new owners of Gatwick were from Nigeria. And nor does it concern me. It really isn't important. I am not tired of Nigerians buying "our" places because I was not aware that they are any more than other people of other nationalities are.

However, I am against Gala Bingo selling such an important building in the community of Camberwell without ANY public consultation.

I am against an important building that should serve the community excluding the majority of that community.

A community centre can be a church, and a cinema, or a library or an outreach centre and supply many jobs as well as fostering understanding between different faiths and nationalities in a community.

A church, of any denomination or faith, is exclusive and is for the benefit only to those immediately connected to it.

That is why I am against the RCCG having sole access to the building. I would feel the same if it were to become a Catholic church or private flats or a hotel or anything that does not give something to everyone in the community.

For more information please go to: http://camberwellcommunitycinema.webs.com/apps/blog/entries/show/30...

In the meantime,if there is anyone from Camberwell reading this please feel free to contact me. I would welcome a dialogue. It is about time that the people of Camberwell got to know each other a bit better.

Many thanks,
