Dear Vanguard Community, recently President Goodluck Jonathan visited Gabon as they were celebrating their 50th Independence anniversary and in his speech, he promised Nigerians in Gabon that Federal Government is putting in place all mechinary to enable Nigerians in Diaspora to cast their votes come 2015 general election.

My question now is, of what importance will that be when the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is not independent as their name suggested but rather "Dependent" on the Exective arm of the government. Of what importance will that be when you still have a corrupt and dangerously funded INEC that is only there to fulfil the wishes of his masters (The political class). Of what importance will that be when Nigeria is now a one party state controlled by People Deciving People (PDP) party instead of being democratic as their name sugested (People's Democratic Party). Of what importance will that be when Nigeria close to 50 yrs is still been ruled by the old selfish, self-centred, corrupt, myopic and dissillussioned politicians that should have long gone on retirement to pave way for young, vibrant and intellectual politicians that will help position the country in the right direction following what is obtainable in this 21th century. These old selfish, self-centred, corrupt, myopic and dissillussioned Politicians are still the ones piloting the affairs and making decisions of that country in the name of Elder Statesmen. Of what importance will it be when the will of the masses no longer count but rather the will of the few ruling class. Votes cast at the polling stations no longer matter but rather ballot papers thumb printed in the bush supersedes a genuine vote. Of what importance will it be when the masses in Nigeria that matters the most and should be at the centre of any decision that bores down to their lives are not listened to and their votes not taken into account to chose who they want.

At this juncture, I believe it will be irrelevant and of no meaning to state that Nigerians in diaspora will cast their votes come 2015 because, Dependent INEC and the corrupt politicians will still be there in 2015 to rigg and manipulate these results. Nigeria is one Country where things doesn't work but still our leaders visits America, Canada, United Kingdom and other developed Countries on regular basis but they cannot copy anything that will be beneficial to our nacent democracy. The only thing that flourishes for the politicians is to countinue to live there life of luxury and fantasy at the expense of the poor masses in Nigeria. They rather prefer to die as rich, corrupt and selfish individuals than make a lasting and indeliable impression on the history of Nigeria's democracy. It is of no value for Nigerians in diaspora to vote in 2015 because at the end of the day, their votes will not reach Nigeria talk more of alleviating the sufferings of millions of Nigerians living in abject poverty.
