In keeping with current happenings in Nigeria, I shall keep this post short as to allow anyone who is participating in the fuel subsidy removal reversal strike enough time to finish reading and to have a nap as the possible end of this strike has not been announced. Firstly, I shall want to say I have not been posting due to migrations which are ongoing at the blog and websites of the Assembly of Yahweh Natzraya, in Nigeria.
However, I wonder (and this post will have more questions than solutions) if Nigeria will experience a time of peace and prosperity like the children of Yisrael (Israel) who embarked on a journey from Egypt to Canaan brought on by harsh economic situations as Nigeria is experiencing. Different from what Nigerians are protesting against (sudden high cost of petroleum products), the Yisraelites already enslaved by the Egyptians were ordered (with brutal floggings and murders of new born male babies) to build cities even as the Egyptians withheld key components necessary for the making of bricks:
Exodus 1:11-14 So they set slave-masters over them to afflict them with their burdens, and they built for Pharaoh supply cities, Pithom and Raʽamses. But the more they afflicted them, the more they increased and grew, and they were in dread of the children of Yisra’ĕl.
And the Mitsrites (Egyptians) made the children of Yisra’ĕl serve with harshness, and they made their lives bitter with hard bondage, in mortar, and in brick, and in all kinds of work in the field, all their work which they made them do was with harshness.
Exodus 5:6-11 And the same day Pharaoh commanded the slave-drivers of the people and their foremen, saying, “You are no longer to give the people straw to make bricks as before. Let them go and gather straw for themselves. “And lay on them the required amount of bricks which they made before, do not diminish it. For they are idle, that is why they cry out, saying, ‘Let us go and slaughter to our Elohim.’ “Let more work be laid on the men, so that they labour in it, and not pay attention to words of falsehood.”
And the slave-drivers of the people and their foremen went out and spoke to the people, saying, “Thus said Pharaoh, ‘I do not give you straw. ‘Go, take straw for yourselves, wherever you find it, for your work shall not be diminished.’ ”
As may be seen from reading the passages above, Yisrael as a people experienced very harsh economic times in the same manner as what Nigerians are and have been experiencing (at least since the ‘80’s). On the downside, reading Scripture explains how Yisrael were emancipated from the tough conditions imposed on them by the Egyptians (keep a date for these here at the community or with the official AOYN blog) but Scripture says nothing about Nigeria so I am at a loss about how Nigeria’s matter will turn out.
Nevertheless, let all men of good will - all who believe in the power of the highest heavens through Messiah Yeshua Natzraya - continually pray that the Father Yahweh’s desire be done.
