Furo, The Adamawa Community where there is no mosquitoes

Nothing educates like travel. I was opportuned just a few days ago to visit a unique community in northern Adamawa. There are two villages bearing almost the same name-Nassaarawo Furo and Furo. Both villages are populated by Bwatiye people.

This piece is mainly about Furo which has some interesting features including-being completely surrounded by mountains-such that the people once inside never see the sunset!

My pictures show the roadless approach, the chizzled entrance and the “animal” rock formation just outside the entrance.

One more point and perhaps the most significant, is the matter of mosquitoes and malaria! There are no mosquitoes in Furo! This curious revelation must inspire a research to establish why there are no mosquitoes in Furo and what the medical world can learn in the quest to rid the world of malaria which according to the World Health Organization kills one million people mainly children each year-and most on the African continent.
