The Black Eyed Peas became a mainstream staple over past decade, but their success in the limelight came at the cost of their hip-hop roots. Before days of Fergie, BEP debut and sophomore albums lacked the commercial appeal they had with Elephunk and Monkey Business, but they definitely delivered some smooth hip-hop records. Today, they take it back to their roots on their new project, Masters Of The Sun which includes a track featuring De La Soul’s Posdnuos, Ali Shaheed Muhammed and a posthumous verse from late Phife Dawg.
Black Eyed Peas new album Masters Of The Sun finds them heading back to their hip-hop roots. They seemingly shed electronic/pop sounds that have dominated their albums for past 15 years and brought it back to their beginnings. “All Around The World” features a verse from late Phife Dawg and De La Soul’s Posdnuos and production from Ali Shaheed Muhammed. It’s one of many songs that will have day one BEP fans reminiscing of their beginnings in late 90’s.
