The Mac App Store was lit up with the logo of Luminar 3, a fresh photo editor from the creators of Aurora HDR (the top photo editing software according to Apple), which was going to give cool pictures to both beginners and professionals of photography, using Express tools, an awesome interface, variety of cool features, and corporate identity. Luminar will be an app that combines both simplicity and reliability and functionality.

Unique design and easy to use interface

Initially, you might think that Luminar 3 borrowed the idea of the interface from Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop, however, it seems so only at first glance. You will find that the developers have placed a visual menu of presets in the scrolling tape, thanks to which you immediately understand what will happen in the picture. All filters are divided into categories such as Basic, Street, Outdoor, Portrait, Grunge texture. Luminar allows both save to favorites and load additional effects. Adobe plugins are supported.

Each preset shows a slider that adjusts the overall strength. After applying a filter you have 2 choices: leave it as it is or to modify the result by turning the temperature, tone, saturation and many others in the right sidebar. For example, Auto Smart Enhancer relies on AI to recognize and improve all image properties, and it doesn't stop at exposure and contrast, but also tweaks color saturation.

Functionality improved!

Of course, you can go further than presets and explore the developers ' Arsenal of editing tools that allow you to add a collection of filters, which are fixed in the right sidebar, and then save the equipped workspace in the future to use such a set again. Getting away from editing the whole photo is also quite simple — choose a brush and apply to retouch locally. Here you can also use cloning and stamping tools.

The lines above make it easy to guess why Luminar 3 balances between Lightroom and Photoshop. Trying to get away from the clutter of functions, our test subject missed the possibility of organizing his own media library (although the import is carried out from anywhere, including from the photo library) and, of course, he can not be trusted to draw. But does everyone need it? But the application perfectly combines the chips of the RAW converter with point settings, and with the support of layers, which we were very pleased! If you are a beginner, we explain: layers allow you to choose different modes of light/color overlay (+twisting transparency). With the use of layers, hands are untied on the part of masks and copying entire arrays of adjustments. Moreover, experiments with layers and deleting retain the original image intact.

A collection of filters and all sorts of handles, twists inspires confidence. But most importantly - all local filters are not brought for a show, they really work and show fantastic results to improve and restore the pictures! Click on the "Add filters" button and select, for example, "Sunrays" from the "Creative" section. In the next moment, the whole photo will be illuminated with the brightest light, in which it will be possible to adjust the radius, location, length of the rays, the level of illumination and much more.

The polarizing filter is also good to make the sky really blue and juicy. The effect of Ortona to blur, selective color adjustment, adjustable gradient, implemented in a comfortable way, decreasing the saturation and increasing the contrast – to list can be very long. Do not be afraid of the presence of familiar filters, because they are felt in a co
