The prolonged strike by Academic Staff Union of Universities has sparked nationwide protest by students of several tertiary institutions. The protest which erupted last week in Benin city and Ibadan has now extended to Lagos.
The students of the university of Lagos has joined the on going protest by demonstrating today at their school gate.
The students has also vowed that they will continue to protest until the strike is called off.
Speaking to one of the protester who refused to have his name mentioned he said " It is clear that those in government do not care about the future of this country, their children do not attend public universities so that explains it. In the last few days we can see how our leaders are buying nomination forms of 100M leaving the education sector in shambles."
Tobi, a student from the department of political science at the university of Lagos stated " we are not daft, we understand the plight of our lecturers, they have families to cater for, and their demand for revitalization of public universities is equally for our benefits. We are begging the government to return to negotiation table and sort things out with ASUU.
