It is common that everyone wants to be treated equally, and it is right because we were all created equal by God, but the question is why does some people thinks they are better to remain in power? Does it mean that nobody is good enough to succeed them? It seems this has been the problem with all the african nations, take ivory coast and tunisia as example, the crises going on there now is the problem of power release. In Nigeria, there has never been frequent bomb explosion, but because power seems to be slipping out from where it used to be to another area where nobody expected, that is when you see this counury become the best place for iraqi's best kind of business. Another question is does these mean that africans cannot lead themselves, or should the colonial masters come back and continue teaching us again? Please africa, it is time for a change, a time to realise that we are in the 21st century, a time to know that no one is a minority. Let us come together and work as one and make africa a better place

elias nwuzor , well what ever has merit has demrit as well. I think  ideal democratic pratices negat power rotation, this is because it call  inefficiency , mediocrity ,  incapability etc . if actually we belive that we are one as a people bind togather by certain affinity other than a mere coercion of a statehood, then it dose mean where a leader comes  from, provided that person has the zeal to deliver to the masses .

until we stop playing ethinic and tribal politics, we can not get beyoung where we are to , after all if USA was to be a country in African today Obama would not have been a president, because he has an African origin .

I know the demerits but considering our country where the northerners has taken it as their birth right, it should be considered the best option to avoid domination of unrecognised tribe

Lets move beyond power rotation, it is not the best for Nigeria. What has it done for us other than bring dis unity in the polity. We neet people with integrity and expertise to rule us irrespective of tribe or religion. The bombings and clashes is a fall out of disgruntled people in the society who are bent on distabilising the system because they lost out.
it is not the best if we all understand what it takes to lead a country with more than 250 ethnic group. We cannot continue to act like caward for the sake making peace.

rotation is not d problem of our underachievement, our problem is selfishness in d individual politicians. power rotation, power rotaion, wot has d common northerner benefited 4rm it since d north has bn in control?

most of us have bn to northern states, can anyone tell me d kind of development it has attracted, how it has impacted on d ordinary northerner? absolutely nothing.

rather d only ppl benefiting 4rm it is jst very few ppl close to d leader, datz all. so it's not a matter of which region or tribe. Give Nigerians a wonder practical President who can come up wit policies dat can touch nd benefit d ordinary Nigerian no matter whr he is, u'll see dat rotation will b 4gotten.

Nigeria needs a credible practical leader who wants to serve nd not to b served.

In USA, a congress woman nd few others were attacked during a constituent dialogue meeting, the president, other party political leaders all stood together to condemn it nation wide. there was a minute silence d next day nationwide.

everybody wanted to knw why it happened, there was unity in its condemnation.

but here, how many ppl hv we lost in Jos mayhem, how many hv lost in road accidents dat our so called leaders including Jonathan himself has not stamped his authority to see dat dey are done. and yet how many of our so called political leaders hv come out strongly to ally wit those in govt to investigate all these as one country? how many?

until we a practical leader, a cleanser, a sweeper who won't come jst to loot d treasury nd surround himself wit political criminals who should be serving term in jails wit hard labour, until dat leader comes, no amt of rotation, if u like rotate it 4rm one state or local govt council to anoda, we will continue to be swimming round in dis same current vicious circle of mediocre corrupt, selfish, fraudulent nd  over re-circled criminals called politicians who hv stolen dis country to stupor nd still continue to hang in.

Mr Nwuzor,u want rotation.1 year now GEJ has been in power,is there any difference btween Nigeria now and OBJ days.the same power failure, security, education, unemployment problems.waste of public funds continue.look for a visionary leader and stop this campaign of rotation it makes u sound like Adamu Ciroma
you are right man

Nigerians should b left with the power to choose their leader.  Power rotation has led to the emergence of mediocres simply because a particular zone must be in power.  The ideal thing is to prone down the number of political parties to two.  That way it becomes easy for us to make good choice of our leaders.
