WARRI— IT was weeping and wailing for the wife of one of the Naval officers who lost his life in Tuesday’s Naval helicopter crash at Mmiri Ochiochi in Obodo Isiokpo, Ikwerre local government area of Rivers State.

The wife and two of her children were said to have come for a short visit to their breadwinner at the NNS Delta, Warri, where the three officers, all Lieutenant Commanders, and a rating, served before their untimely death in the Navy Agusta reconnaissance helicopter marked 06.

The wife of the Base Intelligence Officer, BIO, arrived a few days earlier from Abuja with her two children.
The names of two of the late naval officers were given as Lieutenant Commanders Abdul and Shuaibu, while the identities of the others could not be immediately ascertained.

It was learnt that the helicopter took off from Warri Naval Base at about 11 a.m. but crash-landed at about 1.30 p.m. somewhere close to Port Harcourt International Airport with all the personnel dead.

Commanding Officer, NNS Delta, Warri, Commodore Peter Agba could not be reached for comment when Vanguard visited as he was said to be having a meeting with top officers.

Vanguard also witnessed the military burial rehearsal with mock coffin at the Naval Base by ratings in apparent preparation for the burial of the officers and rating that died in the unfortunate crash.
