ENUGU—The youth wing of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, the apex Igbo socio-cultural group has expressed its anger over Rev. fr. Ejike Mbaka’s New Year message to President Goodluck Jonathan to step down for Major General Muhmmadu Buhari (retd) in the February 14 presidential election.
A statement by the National President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council, OYC, Okechukwu Isiguzoro, yesterday described the recent outburst of Rev. Mbaka of the Adoration Ministry, Enugu against President Goodluck Jonathan as not only vexatious but also inciting.
According to Isiguzoro, Mbaka as a man of God should have steered clear of politics and concentrated on winning souls for God, adding that the cleric does not understand the issues he dabbled into and appeared to be under the prodding of fifth columnists.
The statement reads further: “His followers expected him to give them spiritual food but he is now giving them a spiritual poison. Does he posses the facts and figures he was dishing out? Why should he blow hot and cold?
The first lady visited him and showered earthly blessings on him and he voluptuously extolled the Jonathan’s regime only to turn back to incite the polity against him. What kind of contradiction is that? Any way he spoke for himself and not Ndigbo or the Christendom.”
Isiguzoro urged the Catholic Authorities to look into Father Mbaka's political statement to find out his real motive.
