By Simon Ebegbulem

BENIN—THE Minister of State for Works, Engr Chris Ogienwonyi, weekend in Benin, declared that with the achievements of President Goodluck Jonathan in the area of power generation, rapid growth of the economy, award of contracts for a second Niger Bridge and rehabilitation of Jebba bridge, he will have a landslide victory at the forthcoming Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, presidential primaries.

Ogienwonyi, who was in Benin City, to mobilize support for the presidential ambition of his boss, told newsmen that the economy of the nation would experience rapid improvement in the next three months due to the numerous efforts the president had made to fix the economy.

He asserted that all Nigerians, including those saying something else now, would beg the president to run in the election.

Outlining the achievements made so far by President Jonathan, which according to him, had endeared him to the people of the nation, Ogienwonyi asserted: “Today, all the stakeholders are fully behind him in all the six geo-political zones and the fact that Mr President is endowed with intellectual capacity, integrity and the ability to take this great nation to the next level ascrafted in vision 20-2020.

“Again, as a member of the Federal Executive Council, I think I can speak very well on what Mr President has done under five months.

“Looking back, what happened in the last few months with the local content bill, I think that is one thing he has done for this nation that posterity with remember him for. The Local Content bill is a bill that is going to ensure the development of the Niger Delta.

"I have compared the Niger Delta to the other coastal areas in America and with this bill now, the people of the region will be empowered to have a better life. It will create jobs for the youths and then we will start looking inwards on how to use our local resources for the oil and gas industry. These are things hitherto, we are importing."
