Ilorin-Governor Bukola Saraki’s led Peoples Democratic Party[PDP]in kwara state, in the last weekend poll swept all the elections to the three senatorial and five house of representatives seats as conducted in the rescheduled national assembly election .
The remaining Ekiti/Oke-Ero/Isin/ Irepodun federal constituency election has been rescheduled for April 26,2011 due to the absence of the logo of the candidate of the DPP for the election.
The Action Congress of Nigeria[ACN]made a very good show as it came close second in many of the results polled across the polling units, the ACPN to the surprise of many came far third on the report card even as the Congress of Progressive Change[CPC] also performed well coming fourth on the score sheets.
Announcing the results,Sunday,at INEC office,Ilorin, the Chief Returning Officer for Kwara central senatorial area of the state, Dr. Stephen Olajide said that, the state governor and Kwara Central senatorial candidate,Dr. Bukola Saraki won the ticket to the upper chamber with a total votes of 78,799 to defeat his arch rival , Action Congress of Nigeria senatorial candidate in the poll, Dr. Yahaya Oloriegbe who polled 53,058 votes in the election.
Also, the former governor of the state and senatorial candidate of the ruling party[PDP] for Kwara North in the election, Alhaji Muhammed Shaaba Lafiaji won the election in his senatorial area with 6,822 above ACN 2670,CPC4218 and ACPN 2035 while a serving senator , Senator Simeon Ajibola also of PDP won the seat of the senate for Kwara South senatorial district of the state in the poll.
