Nexon has announced its latest mobile release has already been downloaded three million times.MapleStory M reached this milestone within its first week on app stores, thanks in part to the fact that it was released simultaneously around the globe.The game is a spin-off of MapleStory 2 Mesos the popular Korean MMO MapleStory, which offers a side-scrolling take on the genre and has been a major hit in the East for well over a decade.
MapleStory M was originally released in Korea in October 2016 and achieved over two million downloads in its first two weeks. Now available for free on iOS and Android, MapleStory M has gone on to improve on this success around the globe.
Nexon reports it topped the Apple App Store highest grossing charts in five countries, including Malaysia, Singapore and Taiwan, securing a spot in the Top 10 in a further six countries. It was also the highest grossing game on Google Play in Singapore, second highest in Taiwan, fourth in Malaysia and sixth in Thailand.
