LAGOS—Deputy Speaker, House of Representatives, Mr Emeka Ihedioha, has expressed sadness at the multiple bomb blasts which rocked Kano State, leaving substantial destruction of lives and propey in its trail.
In a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Oke Epia, Ihedioha also condoled the families of victims of the blasts even as he regretted the resort to violence by aggrieved persons or groups instead of exploring peaceful means of seeking redress to whatever grievances they may harbour against the Nigerian state.
He described as painful and irreplaceable the loss of innocent lives in the blasts, noting that the targeted killing of human beings and needless violation of their right should be abhorred.
He specifically condoled the family, management and staff of Channels Television over the death of Enenche Akogwu, who died on the line of duty during the incident, describing him as a courageous journalist that would be surely missed by his colleagues and admirers.
Ihedioha while commiserating with families of law enforcement officers affected by the incident, charged the hierarchy of the security agencies to brace up and contain the deadly trend of terrorism in the country, adding that, “It is now imperative that the huge budgetary spending on security must be justified to convince Nigerians of their capability to protect lives and property
“My heart goes out to the people and government of Kano State as well as all citizens who share in the pains and anguish of the moment
’’I pray that God Almighty in his infinite mercy will grant us all succour in this trying times,” Ihedioha added even as he urged Nigerians to remain united against terror by being faithful to the objectives of building a great country.
