Maybe we don't give enough value to what we have done - Messi

Just before the traditional Joan Gamper trophy against Arsenal, the Barcelona talisman, Lionel Messi, has delivered an emotional pre-season speech to the fully packed Camp Nou stadium.

According to him, "It's difficult to say anything after last season. But I don't regret anything and I will say the same thing. I back these players and the coaching staff we have. Together, we're going to fight to win everything."

Messi admitted the 2018/2019 campaign was a bit disappointing as the Catalans failed to win anything apart from the La Liga title.

"Last season ended with a bitter taste, but we have to give value to La Liga, the eighth we have won in 11 years. That's important and maybe we don't give enough value to what we have done."

"This club always fights for everything and this year will be no different. We're refreshed and excited for the new season," he said.

It will be recalled last season, Messi promised the Camp Nou faithful to bring the Champions League trophy back. However, Barcelona sadly lost to Liverpool 4-0 in the semi-finals despite winning the first leg 3-0.
