What can do?

Innocent Guttersnipe. Who

For times knows sore

constantly on the verge of tease.

Who am i?

I said to myself as

I wrestle through the nights

Of doubt and sorrow over my fate,

Of bright promises of

My early days.

Who am I?

Voice rend the air

Press onwards to the sky.

With wounded feet I stand,

To reach forth those which

Are before and let go all behind

The battle, now, I…

Feast at jungle

We have come to the "feast"

At jungle, to dance to tunes

Of music of our time, and now,

Leaving the arena for others,

Returning with cheering heart.

Gladdened by our worth

Our shoulder laid with arrogant pride

As it was at the beginning,

We stomped tirelessly, bathed with

Salt water and with the eyes of flame

Grope for dream.

"Determination" stands the watch-word

To some, it shattered away

As the hour danced…

Hear!

The Wailing voices

Of bereaved

sob sorrowfully for their loss.

Did it happen again!

Incessant nuke of the haramites

At the church, major cities

And market places.

In whom's pleasure

As juice

Of which it pleases.

Hear!
The Wailing voices
Of bereaved
sob sorrowfully for their loss.
Did it happen again!
Incessant nuke of the haramites
At the church, major cities
And market places.
In whom's pleasure
chooses our blood
As juice
Of which it pleases.
Did it happen again!
The portentous strikes
Of these faceless
Rightfully-wrong fighters,
Making us refugees in
Our own camp.
Their name is "Forbiden"
Even at the hear of "Boko"
We fear to tread
Keeping vigils with bare hands.
Did it happen again?
I wonder if it did
As we maintain no just course
Seeing our protectors nurse
The menace with glove hands
Forgetting we are all victims in disguise.

Onishe

In the mystic silence
Of the world, cleans
By sweet-scented
Folds of the night
Spreading it’s power over the sky
I watch your ripple smile
Smitten by your bare beauty
Which pants my heart.
Mother “Onishe”
I salute your immortal soul
In you all is in
And of divination stuff
At your sacred grove
Pleas for suckle of your sagging breast
Onishe
Here I am
At your majestic presence with joy,
Seeing the puff of your breath
Blooming across your heart.
I did not see but
Stench blood, kola nut native chalks,
At the fore-walls of your shrine
And the cold glitter of your
pure – hearted lover
Preening its beauty through you
Onishe!
Stretch out your balsam hands
And touch my heart, let me
Feel the pleasant sense of stars,
Of the dark autum night
Onishe!
Tell me the secret of
Your uneven head, the fetter of ogbono
Leaves clogging Round you, the gentle
Lyrical pulse which
Falls pleasantly upon your bosom.

Competition!
Competition!
Competition!
An advert post
On the street, television, radio, etc
Came calling for quest for greatness,
Of many but few to be chosen
We stand out during the test of time
Smiled at our flash of brilliant light
But soon, we realized our differences
As we dance to the rhythm of song
Rendered with studied peg of reasoning
More music less joy
And the more we look,
The less we see
Even in laughter, the heart
Was sorrowful for the evicted
We stood with reluctant feet’s
Knowing not our fate
Soon, the call is over
And the winner declared
We sang joyful songs of pain
Then I realize we are all winners
In the process not the end.

'Determination' stands the watch-word
To some, it shattered away
As the hour danced past
When at the time of deep distress
Along the hobbling wattle forest
And of trial, were threshed
And shoved into obscurity.
But we pegged away into
The realm walls of faith
Where we spurned the nights
Of fear that stalk the day
In a combative poise.
We are coming
To fertile our land
With the frothy glory
Trapped in our hands.
Hearts leap of joy
As we slung our bags over
Our back, touching each other,
Gaze timidly at faces with surge
Of excitement.
Hear the drum beat of glee.
Indeed!
We have arrived at the niche of time
Bringing castles of hope,
Telling sad-sweet tales
Of our voyage.

On a round table
On a round table
They sought out the hands of our band masters
For dialogue. Masters in whom’s back we
Gathered courage to make noises which sounded
In the sheer hollowness of the wolves ear,
Over our barren land and polluted water
We matched down the streets, nooks and cranny
With song of emancipation
To restore our motherland and dreams lost in day time.
On a round table
Our band masters broke the oath of allegiance.
Our voice rest in silence as we watch them
Speak in forked tongues
And with painted words, they keep the words
Of promise to our ears and break it to our hope
Then we realize we were without warriors.
On a round table
We lost it all, the tumult and shouting died
Bands are gone
More shall still come.

*BEGINNING OF THE END*
Under Scuffle Nights,
Infantile weep, forced out of Suckle
Of their Mother, whom must please the
MASTER’S bed,
Affection’s gone
Soon, or never to see each other again,
Forlorn in our imaginations,
Knowing little or non of our parentage
Revenged by sickness and kissed by death.
Every minute, we lived in horror
With whips, we are forced to work in field
Toiled day and night for a mess of water
Cruel.
Even fear, we combat our Masters,
Doomed to worship our fate.
Days of justice and liberty we hope,
As it seems we’ve lost everything.
Seasons pa**** by, we missed company,
Sailing between north and east
From one master to another
Learning new ways, left in
The superior Mind of reminisce and
Its pleasure
Yes! We are bought and indentured
But not our minds and imagination
Your strength, Our weakness, we know now
Our days are numbered
Days of liberation and Emancipation
When smile will flash our face
Seeing the beginning of the end
And the days of horror and bloody weeps
Quenched.
Then, I will be your slave no more.
