It’s no longer news that President Muhammadu Buhari went for a medical check up in the United Kingdom and he is expected to stay for about 2 weeks within the country.
However, a lot of security challenges have been facing Nigeria before the president travelled , the Boko Haram terrorist group and bandits have been carrying out their activities in the northern part of Nigeria.
Recently, the United Kingdom expressed their concern towards the security challenges in Nigeria.
British High Commissioner, Catriona Laing, spoke to reporters at a reception for the 2019/2020 UK Chevening Scholarship beneficiaries.
The commissioner disclosed that Africa’s most populous nation is passing through a lot of security issues. The commissioner lamented on the rate of terrorism in the northern part of Nigeria and also, the high rate of kidnapping and banditry in the middle belt.
Nevertheless, Laing revealed that the United Kingdom is ready to support Nigeria in order to end the security challenges within the country.
