NYSC: FG gives stringent conditions for reopening of camps nationwide

The federal government has given its condition and guidelines for the reopening of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) orientation camps across Nigeria.

The government on Thursday, announced that all prospective and returning corps members will undergo mandatory COVID-19 test and certified negative before they will be allowed to return to their respective camps.

This was disclosed by Sani Aliyu, the national coordinator of the Presidential Task Force (PTF) during his daily press briefing in Abuja, Punch reports. Aliyu revealed that this protocol was developed through the joint efforts of the government and the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).

He stated clearly: “We have developed guidelines with the NCDC (Nigeria Centre for Disease Control) and the NYSC in the preparation for the reopening of the orientation camps on the 10th of November, 2020.

“The PTF has also arranged additional safeguards to include the testing of all corpers and staff in the camps for COVID-19 tests prior to commencement of the orientation programmes.”

Earlier, the minister of youth and sports development, Sunday Dare, on Thursday announced that NYSC camps would be reopened on Tuesday, November 10.

Dare noted that full protocols to slow down the spread of the pandemic would be enforced in all camps.

"The resumption of the NYSC Orientation Camp for prospective Youth Corpers has been approved and opens on November 10th 2020. Full COVID-19 Protocols will be enforced," the minister said.
