NO NEGOTIATION WITH A TERORRIST-BOKO HARAM. Jant Jiya (Caleb University Imota. Lagos)

This article is a response to an opinion poll " should the government negotiate with Boko Haram"

It is an Islamic movement which strongly opposes man-made laws. Founded by Mohammed Yusuf in 2001 or 2002. People committed to the propagation of the prophet’s teachings and Jihad- Jama’atu Ahilis Sanna Lidda’Awati wal-Jihad), better known by its Hausa name Boko Haram, is a jihadist terrorist organization based in the northeast of Nigeria. The movement whose name in the Hausa language Boko Haram translates as Western education is sacrilege “or a sin. It seeks to abolish the secular system of government and establish Sharia law in the country. The group is also known for attacking Christian churches. It is divide into 3 factions, and in 2011 was responsible for more than 450 killing in Nigeria Though the group first became known internationally following sectarian violence in Nigeria in 2009, it does not have a clear structure or evident chain of command Moreover it is still a matter of debate whether Boko Haram has links to terror outfits outside Nigeria and its fighters have frequently clashed with Nigeria central government. The government should not negotiate with Boko Haram because it is a faceless organisation. They have not come out boldly if they are fighting for a real course and they should tell country what they are fighting for. They claim they don’t want western education; then they should simply stop their killing kids and wards from school, not killing innocent people and destroying people’s and public properties. The government should never negotiate with them. An organisation who has committed the following should be threaded like terrorist. Boko Haram is considered to be a major potential terrorist threat affecting Nigeria and other countries, and US officials believe it is potentially allied with Al Qaeda. Boko Haram is also seen as a potential threat to United States territory. After the Christmas 2011 bombing, president Barak Obama’s office issued a statement that confirmed that the U.S. and Nigeria were cooperating at a senior level against the terrorist group. These are just few of the crimes that they have committed. Therefore, the government should not negotiate with Boko Haram because it is a faceless organisation. They have not come out boldly if they are fighting for a real course and they should tell country what they are fighting for. They claim they don’t want western education; then they should simply stop their killing kids and wards from school, not killing innocent people and destroying people’s and public properties. The government should never negotiate with them. An organisation who has committed the following should be threaded like terrorist.
