The people that are so called corrupt political leaders or the criminals on the streets here and there.

Those people committing evils in our society and and their family members belong to a particular church or different religious group here in Nigeria, the question one need to ask is the role of Churches or other faiths

Where are the genuine man of God in our Churches of today?

What has the church got to do with individual faith. The church will only tell you what is good but they cannot force you to do it. Just to let you know we still have upright men both in the church and in politics. The system is to be blamed and not the church.
The proliferation of Churches in Nigeria which would have been good for this country by building a God-fearing society has unfortunated created more social problems for the country. Many years ago, say in the 60s, you find magicians in street corners in major cities and towns across Nigeria doing their magic and collecting money from members of the public who were astounded by their magical performances. Crime rate was very low. True, we have pockets of thieves who when you shouted Ole! Ole! would take to their heels. Today the type of thieves we have are the very bold ones(emboldened by the gospel they receive) that will look you in the face at gun point and tell you to surrender your money or get killed! No more magicians in the streets. They have all ended up as 'faith healers' and 'general overseers of churches' in all nooks and cranies of the country! The love for quick money have driven men and women into acquiring devilish powers of hypnotism and brain-wash with which they hold their fellow human beings captive and make them part freely with their hard earned money. Their preaching of having spiritual powers to heal all manners of diseases and to forgive sins no matter how grieveous have made hardened criminals to patronize them more than Churches where morality based on the undiluted word of God is preached This criminals both in government and outside donate their loots to the fake churches with the erroneous believe that the more money they donate to these 'churches' the better their chances of making heaven. This is the true situation these 'churches' have plunged our great Nation, Nigeria into today!
The Church is doing its work.  But don't forget that evil is increasing in a greater proportion every day and much as the church is preaching against evil,  men of God cannot force anyone not to live the way he or she chooses.  It is left for us the hearers to put what we hear into practice.  The church as an institution has not failed rather it the individual members that have failed.
It is the individuals that is the church not the building or the structure. So if you  agree that the individuals have failed then the church has failed. In our school system, if there is a particular school that always record massive failure in their final secondary or degree exams, no sensible parent will send his/her ward to such school. It is only the truth that can set us free as a people.

Many fellow Nigerians, who claim to worship the Lord GOD Almighty, have become traditional rulers, mayors, governors, president, priests and deacons. Such God-fearing Nigerians are probably aware that there are very clear instructions given by the Prophets of the Living GOD for kings and Levites. Some the rules are reproduced below:

The King

14 When you enter the land the LORD your God is giving you and have taken possession of it and settled in it, and you say, "Let us set a king over us like all the nations around us,"15 be sure to appoint over you the king the LORD your God chooses. He must be from among your own brothers. Do not place a foreigner over you, one who is not a brother Israelite. 16 The king, moreover, must not acquire great numbers of horses for himself or make the people return to Egypt to get more of them, for the LORD has told you, "You are not to go back that way again." 17 He must not take many wives, or his heart will be led astray. He must not accumulate large amounts of silver and gold. 18 When he takes the throne of his kingdom, he is to write for himself on a scroll a copy of this law, taken from that of the priests, who are Levites.19 It is to be with him, and he is to read it all the days of his life so that he may learn to revere the LORD his God and follow carefully all the words of this law and these decrees 20 and not consider himself better than his brothers and turn from the law to the right or to the left. Then he and his descendants will reign a long time over his kingdom in
Israel. (Deuteronomy 17, NIV).

Offerings for Priests and Levites

1 The priests, who are Levites—indeed the whole tribe of Levi—are to have no allotment or inheritance with Israel. They shall live on the offerings made to the LORD by fire, for that is their inheritance. 2 They shall have no inheritance among their brothers; the LORD is their inheritance, as he promised them. 3 This is the share due the priests from the people who sacrifice a bull or a sheep: the shoulder, the jowls and the inner parts. 4 You are to give them the first fruits of your grain, new wine and oil, and the first wool from the shearing of your sheep, 5 for the LORD your God has chosen them and their descendants out of all your tribes to stand and minister in the LORD's name always. 6 If a Levite moves from one of your towns anywhere in Israel where he is living, and comes in all earnestness to the place the LORD will choose, 7 he may minister in the name of the LORD his God like all his fellow Levites who serve there in the presence of the LORD. 8 He is to share equally in their benefits, even though he has received money from the sale of family possessions. (Deuteronomy 17, NIV).

Overseers and Deacons

1Here is a trustworthy saying: If anyone sets his heart on being an overseer, he desires a
noble task. 2Now the overseer must be above reproach, the husband of but one wife, temperate, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, 3not given to drunkenness, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money. 4He must manage his own family well and see that his children obey him with proper respect. 5(If anyone does not know how to manage his own family, how can he take care of God's church?) 6He must not be a recent convert, or he may become conceited and fall under the same judgment as the devil. 7He must also have a good reputation with outsiders, so that he will not fall into disgrace and into the devil's trap. 8Deacons, likewise, are to be men worthy of respect, sincere, not
indulging in much wine, and not pursuing dishonest gain. 9They must keep hold of the deep truths of the faith with a clear conscience. 10They must first be tested; and then if there is nothing against them, let them serve as deacons.11In the same way, their wives are to be women worthy of respect, not malicious talkers but temperate and trustworthy in everything. 12A deacon must be the husband of but one wife and must manage his children and his household well. 13; Those who have served well gain an excellent standing and great assurance in their faith in Christ Jesus. (1 Timothy 3, NIV).

If you don`t agree with the need to sanctify churches, then go back and read your Bible again and again.

JESUS own word

Matthew 21:13

Then Jesus went into the temple of God and drove out all those who bought and sold in in the temple, and overturned the tables of the money changers and the seats of those who sold doves.

And HE SAID TO THEM, "IT IS WRITTEN, `MY HOUSE SHALL BE CALLED A HOUSE OF PRAYER,` BUT YOU HAVE MADE IT A DEN OF THIEVES.`"

Nigerian Churches can not serve two masters. Evil must be exposed by means of shedding light to the dark part of societal ills.

Which work?

Do you know why you go to the church?

I go to church because i want salvation. The church is there to guide me on the path of salvation but it cannot force me to take that path, it is left for me to decide if i want to tow that part or not.

If there is a fire burning insde of a building, what do you do?

Call firemen to come and put out the fire right, not so?

Let the Churches in questions invite Holy spirit to come inside, that`s my point.

The problem we have as Christians is that we avoid saying the truth as it is to avoid offending certain individuals. We all know majority of the Churches and Men of God in Nigeria care about money and nothing else.there are sincere servants of God out there,a big pastor most of u know said there is nothing wrong with OBJ' 3rd term bid.if u blame individuals for the failure of the church,do u also blame students for a failing school?
