The Chief Commissioner announces Sponsorship for seven Special Scouts to the United States said TSAN is committed to raising awareness on support for Children with additional needs.
The Chief Commissioner and Chief Executive Officer of the Scout Association Of Nigeria, Hon. Dave Awunah has pushed for faster action on raising awareness and inspiring greater ambition among children and youth living with disabilities. Hon. Awunah who was speaking at an interactive session with hundreds of scouts with additional needs, who gathered at Wesley's Schools for Children with hearing impairment in Lagos on thursday called on government and other stake holders for a multi-coordinated approach to give the kids with special needs greater attention , capable of closing the dissatisfaction gaps created by their physical maladies.
The event which had in attendance National and State Scout Commissioners across the country is aimed at bringing sense of belonging and equity to the special kids on the wake of the forthcoming 24th World Scout Jamboree in United States .
Moved by the great performance of the kids who demonstrated skills in communication context and choreography, Hon. Awunah decried low Government and private persons focus on the children ,whom he described as global kids .
He was quoted to have said despite being challenged with physical defects, Special Scouts contribution to national prosperity is tremendous.
He further commended the Vice Chairman of the National Scout Board, Sen. Bode Olajumoke who has committed immensely to the wellness and welfare of children with special needs.
Awunah at the margin of the interactive session announced the full sponsorship for seven Scouts with special needs to the United States of America for the forthcoming World Scout Jamboree in West Virginia, US in July.
Appreciating the Association, the Vice principal of Wesley School who doubles as the Divisional Scout Commissioner for Surulere Scout area, Mr Maculay appreciated the Association which he described as a global youth custodian with unreserved voice for the development of young people.
