Meet corps member who provided classroom facilities for pupils in Abuja

A corps member serving in Garki village Treasure Osamor has taken to her Facebook page to bring to limelight some of her laudable projects tagged "Project US".

According to her, "In line with the laudable objectives of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals, it is with great passion that I successfully carried out two Personal Community Development Projects as a corps member in Garki village, FCT-Abuja."

She continued: "Project 1 – SDGs Goal 4 Quality Education: I researched and found out that pupils in a certain school were sitting on the cold floor to learn due to insufficient chairs. My heart reached out to those little ones. This led me to construct twenty (20) desks/chairs for the pupils to learn with which will cater for 60 pupils. In addition, donation of school materials such as text books, stationary and sandals were made to selected orphan children of the school.

"Thereafter, I carried out sensitization in the school on Goal 4 of the Sustainable Development Goals, which is Quality Education; to ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all.

"I believe that in a bid for us to make Nigeria greater, we don’t need to leave everything for the Government to do for us, but rather we all should synergize, play our parts, and create the Nigeria of our dream. Thus, I tagged these projects “Project US”.

"The desire to carry out these projects was borne out of sincere passion to touch lives and improve the standard of living of people in my host community, and also to promote quality education in schools. I am grateful to God for family, friends and sponsors that believed in my passion.

"I am also grateful to God for the National Youth Service Corps Scheme that has given corps members the opportunity to discover themselves, equip themselves with skills for self-employment, the opportunity given to corps members by the NYSC to contribute to the accelerated growth of the national economy and for enabling Nigerian youths the opportunity to foster unity in cultural and religious diversity through the scheme’s one year laudable inter-state migration. NYSC is not a scam. Volunteer today wherever you find yourself to promote peace and national sustainable development."

She, however, promised to make known her other project in the next post.
