The Edo state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has issued a statement addressing reports making rounds over the declaration of the state governor, Godwin Obaseki joining the party amid his disqualification by the All Progressive Party (APC) screening committee.
Recall Obaseki, Friday made headlines after his party disqualified him from contesting the gubernatorial primaries scheduled to hold on June 22.
Speaking on the development, the new PDP Chairman in Edo State, Tony Aziegbemi told newsmen in Abuja that people have been calling on behalf of the Governor, but that he has to go through the ward level to get registered.
He said if the Governor joins the PDP, it is only the National Working Committee under the leadership of Uche Secondus could grant him a waiver to participate in the primary election because the process had been concluded.
As at the time of filing this report, Obaseki still a member of the APC.
