Horrible! Imo Governor’s Aids Humiliate Catholic Priest for “obstructing” convoy

Have you ever experienced such a crime?

"Security aids to Governor Ikedi Ohakim of Imo State, on Sunday August 8, humiliated a Catholic Priest of Owerri Archdiocese, Rev. Fr. Eustace Okorie, for allegedly “obstructing the Governor’s convoy”. The incident
happened at about 6:30pm at orie Akabo Market along Owerri – Okigwe Road,
Ikeduru LGA, Imo State. The security aides smashed the side mirror of the
priest car, ordered the priest out of his car, forced him into their jeep and
drove him to the government house, Owerri, where they handed him over to the
Governor’s chief security officer(CSO). After interrogating the clergyman, the
CSO took several photographs of him before handing him over to the state
security service (SSS) where he was thoroughly dehumanized, despite his
explanation that he had no intention to obstruct the governor’s convoy and that
the road was too narrow with a ditch at the sides, adding that within the
circumstance, he parked well enough which enabled other vehicles in the convoy
to pass.

According to the priest who admitted he was not physically assaulted but was psychologically and emotionally humiliated as he was ordered to remove his soutane, trousers and inner wear, except his underware (shorts),
before he was thrown into the cell at about 9pm and remained in the cell till
8pm on Monday when the director of SSS released him on bail with an order to
report back the next morning (Tuesday) at 11am. Meanwhile as the local
newspaper “The Leader” may haveit, the priest has been released. More details
yet to be revealed as Rev. Fr. Eustac Okorie has gone for medical check-up." Abomination
 indeed!!!

very bad to treat a priest like that.but are we not missing something here.thats how they treat every ordinary people every day.we should condemn this act anytime not just b/c a priest is involved.i'm sure most of u will not be moved if it was okada man.in the sight of God all men equal and deserve to be respected no matter who they are or what they are.

Michael, what i learnt there is that people are becoming less religious.20 years ago no body in Nigeria can harrass a priest not even the police or armed robbers.but now lack of fear of God brought those abuse and the priest are not spared.the point i was making then is that we should condemn evil any time any where not just when a priest is involved.
