The Governor of Rivers Nyesom Wike has accused the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, of using the End SARS protest as an avenue to disrupt the peace in the state.
According to him, "Rivers is a peaceful state. The IPOB hijacked the End SARS protest to cause destruction in the state. I can't sit and fold my hands as the executive governor of the state while there's break of law and order by some unscrupulous elements."
The governor made this allegation during an interview with ARISE NEWS which was monitored by our reporter, Saturday.
The governor further claimed that four soldiers were killed during the alleged attack by the IPOB members in the state. "They (IPOB) burnt down police stations, kill police officers and broke into prisons during the End SARS protest," he alleged.
He, however, disputed the claims of mishandling the alleged Obigbo massacre of which IPOB leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu claimed left many of his members dead, adding that he did his best to bring the situation under control.
