Election Preparedness; Red Cross begins radio sensitization ahead of Edo Election
The Edo State Branch of the Nigerian Red Cross Society today flagged off its election preparedness activities ahead of the September 19th Gubernatorial Election in the State. The list of activities lined up are in line with the tempo of recent happenings in the state and in the hopes of a nonviolent election.
Speaking on 92.3fm Benin "Man Around Town" programme, the Branch Communication Coordinator, Mr. Oghenetejiri Ovwigho-Ugbede who spoke on behalf of the Branch, stressed the need for a nonviolent election as election is not war. He however said that the Red Cross is making arrangements to remain available should any emergency arise.
High point of the sensitization was a lecture on bleeding management as a first part in the election preparedness series which is planned for every week before the election.
