COVID-19: Trump strikes conciliatory tone with China's President

The leaders of the world's two biggest economies, Donald Trump and Xi Jinping made a bid to dial down tensions over the pandemic in a late night call.

According to Trump, in an attempt to deal with the fast-moving coronaviris pandemic — with cases in the U.S. now surpassing China and the rest of the world.

The call comes amid rising tensions between the two powers with finger-pointing between Washington and Beijing over the outbreak and how each country has handled it.

Trump tweeted;
